Carolyn Newport: An Inspiration to All

We are deeply saddened to share thenews of the passing of Carolyn D. Newport on Saturday, October 10th. Carolyn was the founding president of The Arc of the Ozarks and was instrumental in enhancing the lives of those with mental and physical disabilities. The memorial donations total $8,214.

On November 16, the Board of Directors elected to establish a fund in Carolyn’s honor. The Carolyn Newport Fund For Young Families will be directed to assist young families with a new diagnosis of a disability. The funds can be used in such ways as to help families seek transportation costs for specialized medical care or for adaptive equipment for example. The memorial donations will be added to a $5000 grant from The Arc Foundation and designated funds from The Arc totaling $18,000.

Carolyn had a passion to support young families facing the challenges that come with a child with a disability. We have a plaque that has been engraved with: Vision, Influence and Legacy. This will be placed in the lobby of our new building at Elfindale. The Arc of the Ozarks would not be where it is today without the vision and support Carolyn provided. While we are saddened by the loss of such an instrumental individual, we look forward to continuing her legacy of serving individuals with disabilities.
