Kim usually flies to Texas to see her brother for the holidays, but since she was going to be unable to do that this year staff tried to make her holiday season one that would be just as special. Staff asked Kim what she would like to do since she was not going to Texas this year in which Kim replied that she wanted to have a party with her friends. Staff asked Kim when she would like to have the party and she said “New Year’s”. Staff helped Kim plan the party to her liking by asking what kind of food and activities she would like to have at the party. Kim stated that she would like Mexican food, staff took her shopping for invitations, decorations and party favors. She said that she would like to have a Karaoke machine to sing songs, face painting, a photo booth, games and of course Mexican food. Kim helped to make decorations and games with staff’s assistance. The day of the party Kim helped to decorate the Arc gym and get up the party in preparation for her friends. Once everyone arrived they walked through a decorated entrance complete with bubbles from a bubble machine and were able it pick out a party hat, noisemaker and necklace of their choice. Party goers were able to get their picture taken in the photo booth, get their face painted and play games while listening to music. Kim’s favorite spot was the Karaoke area but then quickly became a fan of the photo booth. Overall she was thrilled to host a party that she and her friends could enjoy!
