Big Move for Joplin Division

Staff at our Joplin Division will soon be busy packing boxes preparing for a big move. The Arc purchased a 20,000 square foot building in September of 2017 located at 4722 E. 32nd Street and began renovating to accommodate the organization’s needs.

“This new, more visible location may lead to an increase in clients, and we now have room to accommodate,” said Mike Powers, President/CEO. “There’s not a month that goes by where we don’t get calls from people needing services. This building will allow us room for growth, so we can expand our mission throughout the Joplin community,” said Powers.

The construction is nearing completion and the move will take place in July. The current office space is approximately 3,000 square feet with no room for growth. The Joplin Division lost their previous office space in the 2011 tornado.  The new location will provide opportunities for growth in services and community outreach. Missouri State University will be leasing office space for their Masters of Social Work graduate program. The Arc is excited for the opportunities this partnership will bring.

The Joplin Division was established in 2002 and has grown significantly over the years. This division provides residential care, community integration, Applied Behavioral Analysis and supported employment services.

“We are very excited about the opportunity that our new facility provides us as a platform for community awareness and education about disabilities. The commitment, confidence and dedication it shows as we develop new and meaningful ways to assist people of all abilities to live lives of meaning, independence, dignity and value,” said Russell Harbaugh, Joplin Division Director.

We invite the community to join us for our Ribbon Cutting scheduled for August 3rd at 11am.
