The 17th annual Monett Golf Tournament took place on Friday, June 19 at the Windmill Ridge Golf Course. The event was originally scheduled for May 1, but was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns.
While still being cautious, this year’s tournament took place with social distancing modifications. Boxed lunches, catered by Jami Lynn’s Dinner to Go, were placed in the spaced-out golf carts, volunteers at the tournament wore masks with sanitizer and masks available to all participants. Even on the course there were adjustments: pool noodles were added to the holes so golfers could fetch their ball without touching the sides of the cup or the flag.
Despite the change of date and some restrictions, the tournament hosted 18 teams. A little rain throughout the tournament didn’t stop anyone from having fun and raising funds for our Monett Division. “The Monett Golf Tournament is a staple to the Monett community. We are so happy to have had such a successful event after having to postpone,” stated Danielle Wise, Director of Development for The Arc of the Ozarks.
The $6,200 raised from the tournament will help support The Arc’s clients that reside in Barry and Lawrence counties.
