Community Support Programs
Community Connections makes supporting The Arc’s mission a priority by providing individuals with the opportunity to explore as active members of their community, while learning independent living skills necessary for success.
Community Networking
Community Networking is designed to assist individuals with exploring and participating in the community while working on specific social skills. Services are offered individually or in a group setting (Group Community Networking).
Group CN:
“This service allows 2-4 individuals to choose a social activity for the week, fostering collaboration and practicing socially appropriate behaviors like conversation and taking turns.”

Individualized Skill Development (ISD)
Individualized Skill Development supports individuals to develop skills that enhance their independence in both home and community settings.
Equipped for Community Engagement (CI)
Our goal with Community Integration is to equip people with the skills and knowledge for meaningful community engagement. This service is provided individually (1:1) or in a group setting (1:4) and occurs in various locations during the week.
Through 1:1 staff coaching, individuals work on specific skills based on their goals. We tailor the program to meet the needs of everyone to help them increase their independence at home or in the community.
Whether in a group or individual setting, staff teach individuals how to develop relationships with the broader community, participate in recreational activities, and volunteer.

SOAR: Strengths, Opportunities, Access & Resources
A community-based program teaching life and social skills needed to gain independence and participate as valued members of the community.
SOAR is available Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm. Most of the time is spent out in the community in a variety of settings for targeted skill development.

Advanced Outing
To qualify for the SOAR program, Individuals must function independently in a small group setting with a 1:6 ratio. While in the community, individuals are in the presence of staff. It is a reasonable expectation for individuals participating to maintain personal independence.
Activities and environments are designed to foster the acquisition of skills, building positive social behavior and interpersonal competence, greater independence, and personal choice.
Remote Supports offers support through assistive technology, allowing individuals to receive overnight assistance without the need for onsite staff, promoting greater independence.
Missouri's Developmental Disability waivers offer Remote Support systems, enabling individuals to receive assistance without direct staff presence. This includes technology like home sensors, telephones, and video cameras for two-way communication, as well as monitors for tracking movement and health, such as activity sensors and temperature monitors.
The Arc of the Ozarks partners with HEARO to provide supportive technology and installation. For more information regarding HEARO, please visit their website at https://hearolife.com/about.
